The Derwent River, in Tasmaina flows along more than 200km, drops over 700m from its source and pushes up to 140 cubic metres per second. A picture of contrasts – the strong leading lines of the bridge vs the meandering white streaks in the river, the deep dark blues of the shadows vs the bright highlights of the sunset hitting the water.

I love a full moon. Sometimes not just for its glowing shape set low in the sky, but for the light that it casts. In this case, in Brisbane the full moon rose through a murky haze of smoke caused by the tragic Queensland bushfires at the time. It’s usually silver light, now a golden amber, bathing the mangrove flats of Nudgee Beach with other worldly colour.
